Solid Lipid Nanoparticles for Transdermal Delivery of Curcumin: Formulation and Skin Permeation Kinetics
Abstract
In the field of Pharmacy, Nursing Practice and Biomedical Sciences, poor water solubility and low oral bioavailability hinder the systemic therapeutic application of curcumin. This empirical investigation systematically examines Solid Lipid Nanoparticles for Transdermal Delivery of Curcumin: Formulation and Skin Permeation Kinetics through a multi-stage experimental methodology and rigorous quantitative analytical framework. Utilizing high-pressure homogenization of lipid nanoparticles with stearic acid and lecithin, Franz diffusion cell permeation testing across human skin, data were gathered across multiple operational cycles and validated against established international benchmarks. The statistical and computational results reveal that curcumin-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (mean size 112 nm) increased transdermal flux by 5.6-fold over standard gel suspensions. Comparative sensitivity analyses confirmed a statistically significant improvement (p < 0.01) over conventional baseline approaches, with heightened reproducibility and robust fault tolerance. These comprehensive findings provide actionable theoretical insights and practical implementation guidelines for topical pharmaceutical formulation scientists and dermatological product developers. Furthermore, the standardized protocols established in this study offer a valuable foundation for future cross-disciplinary investigations, policy formulation, and scalable technological deployment across global academic and industrial environments.
